Each year tons of running advice is dispensed citing new scientific
findings, new equipment or new tactics that can
help you run further and faster, well into your
Golden Years. What could be better, right? Except
sometimes in the excitement to integrate these
breakthrough strategies into training programs,
runners lose sight of the fundamentals - and
end up on the sidelines with a bag of ice under
their heel. So next time you want
to incorporate fartleks, plyometrics or VO2Max
drills into your training, do it. But don't forget the basis upon which
all successful training regimens are built: a healthy,
intricate network of 52 bones, 66 joints,
214 ligaments and 38 muscles, otherwise known as
our feet.
